Day 7: Saturday, December 7, 2024
Primary Scripture: Luke 21:36
Associated Scriptures: Revelation 3:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6
When I lived in Hawaii everyone stopped to commemorate December 7th as Pearl Harbor Day. Because we were immersed in the events of that day by mere geography, we were mindful to remember all the little details that comes with observing a sacred day in the state. Preparing for an important event involves attention to detail and a readiness that comes from careful planning.
In Luke 21:36, Jesus encourages us to stay awake and pray so that we may have the strength to stand before Him. He wants us to pay attention to the details (the signs) and be ready for His return. This call to vigilance invites us to engage actively in our spiritual lives, remaining alert to His guidance and presence.
In Revelation 3:2-3, Jesus urges us as believers to wake up and strengthen what remains, emphasizing the importance of being spiritually prepared. In, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-6, we are reminded that we are children of the light, called to be alert and sober-minded. Together, these scriptures compel us to evaluate our spiritual health continually.
Are we nurturing our relationship with God? As we reflect on these truths, let us commit to a life of prayer and vigilance, ensuring that we are prepared to meet Christ when He returns.
Let's Pray
Heavenly Father, help us to remain awake and alert in our spiritual lives. May we cultivate a heart of prayer and readiness, prepared to stand before You on the day of Your return. Amen.
