The National Day of Prayer tradition predates the founding of the United States of America, evidenced by the Continental Congress proclamation in 1775 setting aside a day of prayer. In 1952, Congress established an annual day of prayer, and in 1988 that law was amended, designating the National Day of Prayer as the first Thursday in May.
Coldspring Methodist Church will host a come-and-go open sanctuary from 1-5 PM for individual prayer, with stations available for prayer support. At 6 PM, CMC will host a community prayer service, with music, scripture readings and corporate prayer. These events will be filled with prayer for governmental leaders, the military, churches, families, education, and other topics.
We hope our entire community will realize the importance of God’s hand in America and will remember the great opportunity we still have in America to come before God publicly and corporately.
Please Save the Date and plan to participate.
