DAY 19 — JOY IN SERVING OTHERS
Scripture: Acts 20:35
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
Each December, a barber in Detroit closes his shop for one day to offer free haircuts to people experiencing homelessness. He and a group of volunteers provide warm meals, winter coats, and a safe place to rest.
When asked why he does it, he said, “Cutting hair is my joy. Serving people is my joy. Giving joy makes my joy grow.”
One recipient said, “He cut my hair, but he also lifted my heart.”
Reflection:
Joy multiplies when we give it away. When we serve others, we participate in God’s joy.
Who might God be inviting you to serve with love this week?
Prayer:
Jesus, make me a joyful giver.
Help me share Your love freely, generously, and gladly. Amen.
