DAY 17 — JOY IS STRONGER THAN FEAR
Scripture: Nehemiah 8:10
“The joy of the Lord is your strength.”


In 2014, a group of children in the Middle East were hiding in a basement during an outbreak of violence. Aid workers recorded them singing softly in the darkness to calm their fear.

One little boy led the songs, clapping and smiling to encourage the others.
When asked later how he had been so brave, he said, “If we stopped singing, we would start crying. And singing felt like God was giving us strength.”

Their songs became a shelter stronger than the walls around them.

Reflection:
Joy is not the denial of fear — it is the defiance of it. Joy is courage rooted in the presence of God.
Where do you need God’s joy to be your strength today?

Prayer:
God of strength, let Your joy rise in me.
Fill me with courage that comes only from You. Amen.
