Advent 2025 - Day 10 — Peace In The Storm

Day 10 — Peace In The Storm
Scripture: Mark 4:39–40

“He woke up and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, ‘Peace! Be still!’ And the wind ceased…”

In 2005, during Hurricane Katrina, a group of nursing home staff refused to evacuate until every resident had been transported.

For more than 24 hours, they moved room by room through rising water, carrying patients on their backs, making floating stretchers out of mattresses.

One nurse later said, “I kept repeating Jesus’ words in the boat: ‘Peace, be still.’ Not because the storm was stopping, but because we needed peace inside ourselves to keep going.”

All 63 residents were rescued.

Reflection:
Sometimes God calms the storm. Sometimes He calms His people in the middle of it.

Peace is not always the absence of chaos — sometimes it is the presence of Christ within it.

Where do you need God to speak “Peace, be still” into your life?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, speak Your calming word into my storms.
Settle my fears and steady my heart with Your peace. Amen.
